Supporting Athletes Beyond the Game

Switch the Play Foundation is widely recognised for the vital role they play in supporting sportspeople as they transition into life beyond professional sport. Their work focuses on long-term wellbeing, education and employability, helping individuals build confidence, purpose and stability when their sporting careers come to an end.

Having already partnered for many years with Includability, this next step feels like a natural progression in a relationship built on shared values and a commitment to real-world impact.

Purpose Built on Experience

Founded by Rob Young MBE, Switch the Play Foundation brings lived experience into everything they do. Their approach is grounded in empathy, honesty and practical support, shaped by a deep understanding of the challenges athletes face during and after their careers.

As the organisation begins its Includability Verification Journey, Leoni Inchley, Operations Executive, will be leading the process. Leoni plays a key role in ensuring the Foundation’s programmes, partnerships and internal culture continue to reflect the values they champion externally.

Preparing for the Includability Verification Journey

As a Committed Employer, Switch the Play Foundation are now preparing to formally begin their Includability Verification Journey. This stage is about reflecting on what’s already working well, gaining external insight, and identifying opportunities to strengthen systems, culture and governance as the organisation continues to grow.

They’ll be working with our Verification Partners across key areas of workplace culture:

Diversity & Inclusion: Sara Matthews – Includability / ODiSEE
Sustainability: Laura Slack – B Corp Expert
Mental Health: Matt Holman – Simpila
Wellbeing: Matt Lock – Outliers Wellbeing + Matt Holman – Simpila
Talent Management: Jon Hering – Talent Mapper
Leadership & Governance: Will Cleare – The HR Agency

This process is collaborative and reflective, designed to support organisations that are already making a difference and want to keep improving with clarity and confidence.

A Shared Commitment to Long-Term Impact

James Pravato, Co-CEO at Includability, said:

“Having been to see how the Switch the Play Foundation support, we know how incredibly important helping people through moments of real change is. This next step is about backing that work with strong systems, evidence and long-term thinking. We’re really looking forward to working with Rob, Leoni and the team as they begin the Verification Journey.”

Dave Holby-Wolinski, Co-CEO at Includability, added:

“There’s a huge amount of care, credibility and lived experience behind everything Switch the Play Foundation does. Becoming a Committed Employer is a natural extension of that mindset, and we’re proud to continue championing them as both a partner and part of the Includability community.”

Looking Ahead

Switch the Play Foundation already plays a critical role in supporting people at pivotal moments in their lives. By joining Includability as a Committed Employer, they’re reinforcing their commitment to care, accountability and long-term impact.

We’re delighted to continue working alongside them on this next stage of their journey.
