What is JEDI, and what does B Corp V2 ask of employers?
Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion gets talked about a lot and explained less. Module 1 of the JEDI Inclusion Toolkit sets out what JEDI asks of an employer and how B Lab Standards V2 measures it, in plain English. And it is free.

A plain-English guide to Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at work

JEDI is Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. It is a way of looking at fairness at work that asks three questions: who gets in, who gets on, and whose voice shapes the decisions. For B Corps, it is also one of the Impact Topics in B Lab Standards V2, with its own requirements and its own evidence.
The toolkit's orientation module, Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and B Corp, explains all of this in a simple easy to understand way. It is a great place to start, and it is free.
Why is JEDI so easy to get muddled?
Most organisations already know what good inclusion looks like. The intent is there, the values are written down, and someone has been asked to make it happen.
The trouble often starts with the words. Different teams, suppliers and frameworks use different labels for similar work, and it is not always clear which one you are working to or what it asks of you.
For B Corps there is an extra layer. B Lab Standards V2 gives Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion its own Impact Topic, with requirements that change with company size. If you are certifying or recertifying, the first question is often simply: what counts?
None of this means you are behind. It means you need a shared starting point.
What happens when teams start without a shared picture?
The person leading inclusion is often doing it alongside a full-time role. When the starting point is unclear, false starts cost them hours they do not have.
Work gets done, but it does not always answer the questions people go on to ask. Boards, candidates and clients want to see what changed, not what was promised.
And when leaders and delivery teams use different words for the same thing, progress is hard to report, even when real progress has been made.
What does the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and B Corp module help you with?
Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and B Corp is the orientation module of the JEDI Inclusion Toolkit. It gives you a clear picture of what JEDI asks of an employer and how B Lab Standards V2 measures it.
It sets out what each of the four words means in practice, how they work together, and how the B Corp standard turns them into requirements. It also sets up the shared language every other module uses, so the rest of the work starts from the same place.
What do you get?
↳ A guidance document with an introduction to JEDI and B Lab Standards V2
↳ A guide to understanding Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
↳ A slide deck you can take straight to your team or your board
↳ Short, expert-led videos on the Includability Academy
Easy, concise and structured, whether you are doing the work or reporting to your groups, teams or board
What will you end up with?
↳ A shared definition of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion that your team and your leaders both use
↳ A clear view of the JEDI Impact Topic: workforce data under JEDI1, and the nineteen actions under JEDI2
↳ Slides you can present internally, so the conversation starts in the same place
↳ A clear sense of which module to open next
This module is about understanding. The other modules produce your plans, policies and data, and those are your evidence.
Why does it work for any employer?
The JEDI Inclusion Toolkit is built on good practice first. If you want an inclusive workplace with the evidence to back it up, you do not need to be a B Corp to use it.
The module is self-paced, so it fits round the day job. Work through it on your own, or use the slides to run a short session with your leadership team. The guidance also includes routes for small teams, so the toolkit works whether inclusion is someone's full-time role or one part of a busy week.
How is it built around the B Corp standards?
For B Corps, the toolkit is built around the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Impact Topic in B Lab Standards V2.
As the orientation module, it does not map to a single criterion. Instead it explains the whole Impact Topic:
↳ JEDI1: collecting workforce data, from Small companies upwards
↳ JEDI2: choosing from nineteen actions across three sets: Foundation, Within the Workplace and Beyond the Workplace
Every other module names the criteria it supports and the evidence it produces. Once you understand the Impact Topic, you can go straight to the work your evidence needs.
B Lab certifies B Corps. Includability supports the work you supply as evidence.
Where does this module fit in the toolkit?
The JEDI Inclusion Toolkit follows four steps, in the order that suits you: find out where you stand, decide what to do, do the work, and show what changed. This module sits before all four. It is the shared starting point.
From here, most people move on to The B Corp JEDI Knowledge Hub, a reference for the criteria, the terms and what good evidence looks like. If you are starting on workforce data, Self-ID Surveys is the natural next step. Both modules are free.
For the full requirements by company size, read our guide to the B Corp JEDI requirements.
How much does the JEDI Inclusion Toolkit cost?
This module is free, and so are three others: The B Corp JEDI Knowledge Hub, Self-ID Surveys and Supporting Learning Management.
Bought separately, the paid modules come to £1,900 + VAT, so the full toolkit saves £901. Introductory 2026 pricing. Prices are subject to change.

Questions people ask
What does JEDI stand for?
JEDI is Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. It looks at fairness at work: who gets in, who gets on, and whose voice shapes the decisions.
Is JEDI the same as EDI, D&I or DEI?
They share the same aim. EDI and DEI usually cover equality or equity, diversity and inclusion, and D&I covers diversity and inclusion. JEDI adds Justice, which looks at the systems and barriers behind unfair outcomes.
Is the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and B Corp module free?
Yes. It is one of four free modules in the JEDI Inclusion Toolkit, alongside The B Corp JEDI Knowledge Hub, Self-ID Surveys and Supporting Learning Management. The other nine modules are £100 or £300 + VAT each, or £999 + VAT for all 13.
Do we need to be a B Corp to use it?
No. The toolkit is built on good practice first and works for any employer. B Corps get the JEDI criteria mapping on top.
What is the JEDI Impact Topic in B Lab Standards V2?
It is the part of the B Corp standards that covers Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. JEDI1 covers workforce data, and JEDI2 asks companies to choose from nineteen actions across three sets.
Is the JEDI Inclusion Toolkit a certification?
No. Includability does not certify, accredit or verify anything. B Lab certifies B Corps, and the toolkit helps you do the work and gather the evidence.
Do we have to take the modules in order?
No. Every module stands on its own, so you can start where your gaps are. Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and B Corp is the best first step if JEDI or B Lab Standards V2 is new to you.
