Employee feedback: how to hear from everyone and close the loop
Data shows you what is happening. Feedback tells you why. The Gathering Worker and Stakeholder Feedback module of the JEDI Inclusion Toolkit helps you set up feedback routes people trust, write terms of reference for employee resource groups, and show people what changed because they spoke up.

A practical guide to employee voice, employee resource groups and stakeholder feedback

Employee feedback tells you what your data cannot: why people stay or leave, where they feel held back, and what would make a difference. Good feedback routes reach everyone, including the people least likely to speak up, and they always show people what happened next.
The Gathering Worker and Stakeholder Feedback module of the JEDI Inclusion Toolkit helps you build those routes, including terms of reference for employee resource groups.
Why is honest employee feedback so hard to get?
Most organisations already ask for feedback. There is an annual survey, an open-door policy, perhaps a staff network or two. But the same voices tend to fill every channel, and the people with the most to say often say the least.
Feedback also stops at your own staff too easily. Contractors, candidates, customers and community partners all see a different side of how inclusive you are.
For B Corps, B Lab Standards V2 links workforce information and stakeholder feedback to the actions you choose under the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Impact Topic.
What happens when feedback goes nowhere?
People take the time to share something difficult, then hear nothing back. The next time you ask, fewer of them answer.
Employee resource groups start with energy, then stall because nobody agreed what they are for, who supports them or how they feed into decisions.
And leaders end up acting on assumptions, because the feedback that would have changed their minds never reached them.
What does the Gathering Worker and Stakeholder Feedback module help you with?
Gathering Worker and Stakeholder Feedback gives you feedback routes, plus terms of reference for employee resource groups. It helps you work out who to hear from, how to hear from them safely, and how to close the loop so people see what changed.
It is easy to follow, concise and structured, whether you are doing the work or reporting on it to your teams, groups or board.
What do you get?

Why does it work for any employer?
Every employer makes better decisions when it hears from the people those decisions affect. The module is built on good practice first and works whether you have two employee resource groups or none yet.
It is self-paced, and the templates mean you are not starting from a blank page.
How is it built around the B Corp standards?
Gathering Worker and Stakeholder Feedback supports JEDI1.1 and JEDI2.f in the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Impact Topic of B Lab Standards V2.
Your stakeholder map, terms of reference and close the loop record form a clear record of who you heard from and what you did about it. Every module in the toolkit names the criteria it supports and the evidence it produces.
B Lab certifies B Corps. Includability supports the work you supply as evidence.
Where does Gathering Worker and Stakeholder Feedback fit in the toolkit?
The JEDI Inclusion Toolkit follows four steps, in the order that suits you: find out where you stand, decide what to do, do the work, and show what changed. Gathering Worker and Stakeholder Feedback sits in the first step, alongside Self-ID Surveys and Making Sense of Your Data.
Once you know what people are telling you, Creating and Implementing a JEDI Action Plan helps you decide what to do about it.

Questions people ask
What is an employee resource group?
An employee resource group is a voluntary group of employees who share a characteristic or experience, and their allies. Done well, it gives people support and gives leaders a clear route to hear from them.
What should ERG terms of reference include?
What the group is for, who can join, who sponsors it, how it is resourced, and how its feedback reaches decision-makers. The module includes a terms of reference template you can adapt.
How do you get honest employee feedback?
Offer more than one route, make it safe to speak up, and explain what you will do with what you hear. Then close the loop by telling people what changed.
Who counts as a stakeholder for inclusion feedback?
Employees first, but also contractors, job candidates, customers, suppliers and community partners. The stakeholder map helps you decide whose voices matter most for your organisation.
Do we need to be a B Corp to use it?
No. The toolkit is built on good practice first and works for any employer. B Corps get the JEDI criteria mapping on top.
Is the JEDI Inclusion Toolkit a certification?
No. Includability does not certify, accredit or verify anything. B Lab certifies B Corps, and the toolkit helps you do the work and gather the evidence.
