JEDI INCLUSION TOOLKIT
Creating Inclusion Assessments
Check who a policy, project or event might help or hold back before it launches. You finish with a completed assessment, a consultation record and evidence ready for an equity audit.
What is an inclusion impact assessment template?
Creating Inclusion Assessments is an inclusion impact assessment template and guidance module in the JEDI Inclusion Toolkit. It works like an equality impact assessment but covers Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion more broadly, taking you through who is affected, the evidence, four rated domains, risks, consultation and sign-off, with a worked example throughout.
Who it's for
- HR, People and Culture leads checking new or changed policies
- Project, change and event leads planning something new
- B Corp certification leads gathering evidence for JEDI2.e
Why do good decisions still leave people out?
Most decisions are designed around the majority. A new shift pattern, an office move or a change to rewards can work for most people and still put a few at a disadvantage, and those few are often the least likely to be asked.
Without a consistent check, whether anyone thinks about this depends on who happens to be in the room. Problems show up after launch, when they cost more to fix, and there is no record of what was considered or who was consulted.

Support
You can email us with questions as you work through any module, and you can book a call with the team to talk through how to get the most from the toolkit. If there's a template, tool or feature you'd like to see added, tell us. We build the toolkit around what the people using it need.
Questions we get asked
What is an inclusion impact assessment?
A structured check, before launch, of who a policy, project or event affects, the evidence you have, the likely impact, the risks and what you will change as a result.
Is it the same as an equality impact assessment?
They are closely related. An equality impact assessment, or EqIA, focuses on protected characteristics. An inclusion impact assessment uses the same structure and covers Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion more broadly, so it also works as an EDI impact assessment.
When should we run an inclusion assessment?
Whenever you introduce or change a policy, launch a project or plan a significant event, early enough that you can still change the plan.
Does this module complete the equity audit for us?
No. An equity audit is carried out by an independent third party. The module helps you gather and organise the evidence that audit will look at.
How does this module support B Corp JEDI2?
It supports JEDI2.e. Each completed assessment records the evidence, risks, consultation and sign-off behind a decision, ready for the equity audit.
What support do we get?
You can email us with questions as you work through the module, and book a call with James and Dave to talk through getting the most from it.
Can we suggest new templates or features?
Yes. Tell us what you would like to see added. We build the toolkit around what the people using it need.
Is this module a certification?
No. Includability does not assess, certify, accredit or verify anything. B Lab assesses and certifies B Corps. The module helps you do the work and gather the evidence.
Not sure which modules you need?
A Cultural Roadmap with a JEDI Gap Analysis shows you, so you start where your gaps are.
The Roadmap shows the gaps. The toolkit closes them and produces your evidence.
