JEDI INCLUSION TOOLKIT
Making Sense of Your Data
Turn your workforce numbers into a decision your board can act on. You finish with chosen measurements, a safeguards checklist, a data gap map and a dated board report.
What is a workforce diversity data template?
Making Sense of Your Data is a workforce diversity data template and guidance module in the JEDI Inclusion Toolkit. It helps you decide what to collect, protect the people inside your data, compare your workforce against a named population and turn the results into a diversity and inclusion report your board can act on.
Who it's for
- HR, People and Culture leads who hold the workforce data
- Leaders and boards who need to know what the numbers mean
- B Corp certification leads working on JEDI1.1 and JEDI1.2
Why does workforce data so often go unused?
Many organisations collect diversity data and then do very little with it. The numbers sit in a spreadsheet with nothing to compare them against, so nobody can say whether they are good, bad or changing.
Small groups make it worse. Report them the wrong way and you risk identifying people who trusted you with personal information. Leave them out and the people with the most to tell you disappear from the picture.
What it covers
- Stage one, what you collect

Support
You can email us with questions as you work through any module, and you can book a call with the team to talk through how to get the most from the toolkit. If there's a template, tool or feature you'd like to see added, tell us. We build the toolkit around what the people using it need.
Questions we get asked
What workforce diversity data should we collect?
Start with the measurements that answer a real question, such as who is joining, progressing and leaving, broken down by the identities you have chosen to ask about. The module helps you choose and record your measurements.
Is this an EDI data reporting template?
Yes. It works as an EDI or diversity and inclusion data toolkit for any employer, from choosing measurements to a board report. We call it JEDI because it adds justice and follows the B Corp standards.
How do we protect anonymity with small numbers?
Set a reporting threshold so no group is small enough to identify a person, combine categories where you need to and record the safeguards you used. The safeguards checklist covers each step.
What should a diversity report to the board include?
What you measured, how it compares with a named population, where the gaps are, where identities overlap and what you plan to do about it. The board report template follows that order.
How does this module support B Corp JEDI1?
It supports JEDI1.1 and JEDI1.2. Your recorded measurements, safeguards checklist, data gap map and board report show how you collected and used your workforce data.
What support do we get?
You can email us with questions as you work through the module, and book a call with James and Dave to talk through getting the most from it.
Can we suggest new templates or features?
Yes. Tell us what you would like to see added. We build the toolkit around what the people using it need.
Is this module a certification?
No. Includability does not assess, certify, accredit or verify anything. B Lab assesses and certifies B Corps. The module helps you do the work and gather the evidence.
Not sure which modules you need?
A Cultural Roadmap with a JEDI Gap Analysis shows you, so you start where your gaps are.
The Roadmap shows the gaps. The toolkit closes them and produces your evidence.
Need the data first?
We build and run your Self-ID Survey and hand you a board-ready report.
